What is a Giclée?
Giclée , a French work meaning a fine mist or spray, is a fine art reproduction printed on an IRIStm 3000 series printer.
The IRIStm has the ability to emit 1,000,000 micro sized droplets of transparent ink per second from each of its four pressurized nozzles, to produce a continuous stream of ink analogous to a fine mist. There are approximately 11 million droplets of ink per square inch. The apparent resolution of the final image is 1800 dpi.
Giclée images are printed using highly saturated transparent inks on canvas or archival watercolor paper and treated with Optimas Millennium XEtm, proven to protect images for 100 years (under gallery conditions) from fading, mold and fungus.
The giclée process comes as close to the original as is technically possible. The magic of giclée limited editions truly occurs when the process is finished and the printed images do their work on the senses.
